About the reserve

Where nature and conservation come together

A reserve in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, one of the most historically significant areas on the planet.

Where to find us

We are in the Cradle of Humankind, due north of Krugersdorp on the Kromdraai Road (the D540), 45 minutes from both Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The reserve’s internal roads are well-maintained dirt roads that suit most vehicles on the main routes. Certain roads are for 4×4 vehicles only, and heavy rain can affect road conditions.

Other attractions

The reserve has one of the few successful vulture hides, where vultures and other scavengers are fed. 4×4 enthusiasts can test their skills on our 4×4 routes and use a secluded 4×4 braai area. The Bothongo African Garden, next to the Wildlife Centre, showcases cycads, aloes and other indigenous plants among the dolomite rock formations of the Cradle of Humankind.
